University of Santo Tomas showed a lot of rust but still managed to muster a five-set win over Arellano University, 25-19, 19-25, 21-25, 25-22, 15-13, in its 2022 V-League Collegiate Conference debut, Friday at Paco Arena.
The Tiger Spikers coughed up a whopping 49 miscues throughout the two-hour-and-a-minute match, which gave the Chiefs some lease for life.
"Expected ko naman na there will be errors, sobrang dami lang talaga. Sabi ko, ilabas na nila lahat," said Tiger Spikers head coach Odjie Mamon.
Rey De Vega paced the Tigers with 13 points, 12 coming from attacks, to go with 19 excellent receptions.
Arellano, who fell to 0-2 in Group A, had Christian Dela Paz and Carl Berdal lead the way. Both tallied 16 markers in the loss.
