University of Perpetual Help System DALTA and De La Salle University figure in a crucial clash for the last remaining semifinal berths in the V-League Men’s Collegiate Challenge, facing off in a 12 noon duel tipped to go down-to-the-wire at the Paco Arena in Manila on Friday.
The Altas (3-3) revived their Final Four hopes with a four-set victory over the defending champions National U Bulldogs last Sept 10 with ace spiker Louie Ramirez back in action to lead the team again against the fired-up Taft-based squad.
"La Salle is one of the best teams here in the V-League, so we have to prepare. Ang motivation lang namin ngayon is pumasok sa semifinals. That's very important for us," said Perpetual coach Sammy Acaylar.
But the 3-2 Green Spikers are likewise going flat-out for the all-important victory as they seek to score a follow on their victory over the Emilio Aguinaldo College side. They next face arch rivals the Ateneo de Manila U Blue Eagles at the close of the single round elims of the tournament organized by Sports Vision and sponsored by Bola.TV, Beyond ActiveWear, and Mikasa.
The league-leading University of Santo Tomas, meanwhile, try to extend its streak against also-ran San Beda University in the 10 a.m. opener of another busy four-game bill.
In women's play, semis-bound Perpetual and College of Saint Benilde hope to bring the winning feeling to the next phase as they tangle at 2 p.m. while NCAA squads Lyceum of the Philippines U and San Sebastian College-Recoletos collide at 4 p.m.
