National U and Far Eastern U tangle on Wednesday in a duel of top contenders seeking to rebound from previous setbacks as action in the V-League Men’s Collegiate Challenge heats up at the Paco Arena in Manila.
The Bulldogs dropped a four-set thriller to the UST Golden Tigers, while the Tams absorbed a heart-breaking reverse sweep to the Perpetual Help Altas, making their 3 p.m. encounter a key match for the fierce UAAP rivals in the pre-season tournament.
In the 5 p.m. clash, the 1-2 Colegio de San Juan de Letran aims to ignite a winning streak in the eight-team league organized by Sports Vision as it faces the winless Emilio Aguinaldo College.
The Knights hope to keep the momentum of their three-set romp over the Ateneo Eagles, while the Generals are hard-pressed to break into the winning column after yielding their first three games to the La Salle Green Spikers, the Bulldogs and the Blue Eagles.
“Nandoon pa rin yung pagpprepare namin dahil sila kalaban namin sa NCAA, syempre i-rrespeto namin yung performance nila kaya kailangan namin magprepare ng mabuti,” Letran head coach Brian Esquibel said.
Meanwhile, University of the Philippines and University of the East, both holding 1-1 cards, face off in the lone women’s showdown at 12 noon, with both teams also shooting for bounce-back wins.
Both the Fighting Maroons and the Lady Warriors bowed to the NCAA and V-League reigning champions St. Benilde and UAAP finalist UST, respectively, both via routs.
