Louie Romero is dead-set on leading Adamson University to the 2022 V-League Women’s Collegiate Challenge title.
The 22-year-old setter said that the Lady Falcons will work twice as hard right after the team’s three-set victory over University of Sto. Tomas in the quarter finals.
“Siguro expect niyo na magta-trabaho pa rin kami as a team, na hindi kami basta basta susuko. Ilalaban namin bawat point talaga, bawat set, yun lang,” said Romero when asked what to expect from her and the rest of the team in the semifinals.
Romero tallied 19 excellent sets to go along with two points in the 25-15, 25-15, 25-22 victory over the Golden Tigresses last Wednesday at the Paco Arena.
With the win, Adamson has earned the right to face College of St. Benilde – the same team that put a dent on their group stage record – in the semifinals.
The setter out of Bacolod said that the team will be banking on their aggressiveness against the Lady Blazers as they look to reach the same heights they reached back in the 2019 PVL Collegiate Conference.
Romero will also carry a huge responsibility come the semifinals with head coach Jerry Yee opting to sit out the match as he handles both Adamson and Benilde.
“Siguro noon kasi rookies kami, andon pa rin yung aggressiveness hanggang ngayon pero ngayon kasi mas more on kami yung nagle-lead sa team talaga. Buo talaga kami ngayon saka yung sistema ngayon sobrang ganda,” said Romero.
“Okay naman kasi kami yung team na gusto namin malaya kami. Kumbaga, yung freedom binibigay ni coach although kailangan laging nandoon yung discipline so malaki yung tiwala niya samin na kahit niluluwagan niya kami, nandoon pa lagi yung discipline namin,” she added.
