Fresh from a surprising victory over University of Santo Tomas, De La Salle University seeks to sustain its momentum as it faces Far Eastern U at resumption of the 2023 V-League Men's Collegiate Challenge on Sunday at the Paco Arena.
The Green Spikers, who secured a hard-fought 26-28, 25-18, 28-26, 25-21 triumph over the UAAP finalists Golden Spikers last Friday, and the Tams, who bowed to the National U Bulldogs in three last Wednesday, tangle at 10 a.m.
The Tams eliminated the Green Spikers in the stepladder quarterfinals of the UAAP last May. But La Salle coach Jose Roque is confident his team has improved significantly since then.
"Our last season was a bit chaotic. Now, we hope for a good start that can carry over into the UAAP season," said Roque. "Positive results will come if they give their best effort. Even if the game isn't flawless, we'll work on that."
JM Ronquillo and Noel Kampton are expected to lead the Green Spikers' offense again with Uriel Mendoza’s addition proving to be as beneficial for La Salle, which is eyeing to join the idle Perpetual Help side in the lead.
Meantime, Ateneo de Manila University and Emilio Aguinaldo College launch their respective campaigns in the tournament organized by Sports Vision and supported by Bola.TV, Beyond Active Wear, Asics and Mikasa as they collide at 12 noon.
In women's matches, to be broadcasted on Solar Sports, the V-League's official website, and Bola.TV's app, Mapua U takes on Lyceum of the Philippines University at 2 p.m. while San Sebastian College-Recoletos squares off with NAASCU champion Enderun Colleges at 4 p.m.
