College of Saint Benilde secured the second spot in the semifinals of the 2023 V-League Collegiate Challenge by defeating NCAA rival University of Perpetual Help System DALTA in straight sets, 25-18, 26-24, 25-16, on Friday at the Paco Arena in Manila.
With a 5-1 win-loss record and still a game in hand against Enderun Colleges, the Lady Blazers are set to face the University of the East in the Final Four. On the other hand, the Lady Altas will face Far Eastern University.
CSB had to come back from a significant 10-17 deficit in the second set, with Jade Gentapa taking charge to secure the win. Head coach Jerry Yee addressed this aspect, saying, "As a coach, I am looking at what I can improve on, and I'm not satisfied with that. It's good that I saw it, and it's good that we can correct it. It's a good thing that we recovered. It was a significant character win for us," said the seasoned mentor.
Gentapa finished with 13 points, including 10 attacks, one block, and two service aces, while Zam Nolasco also contributed 13 points, five of which came from blocks.
Mary Rhose Dapol and Shaila Omipon both nearly reached double digits with nine points each, but they couldn't extend the squad's winning streak to three games.
