The team's head coach, Jerry Yee, is known for ensuring his squads gain ample exposure by participating in preseason tournaments—and the Lady Blazers are no exception.
Thus, when Sports Vision offered CSB the opportunity to join this year's V-League Collegiate Challenge, the bronze medalists from last season welcomed it with open arms.
"It's not new to us to participate in tournaments like this, since we've been doing it since our rookie days. That's why we're really grateful," shared CSB setter and captain Cloanne Mondoñedo.
The playmaker believes that such in-game experience plays a crucial role in the school's pursuit of an unprecedented three-peat.
"Through this, we can identify our small mistakes. We'll see what things are working and what things we still need to work on," Mondoñedo echoed Yee's reasons for their participation.
The Lady Blazers weren't striving for perfection; rather, their focus was on improving their gameplay and eventually surpassing their opponents when it comes to game time.
After all, they are carrying a significant target on their backs, a fact that Mondoñedo and the rest of the Taft-based squad are acutely aware of.
"Every team wants to defeat us, so we need to work harder if we want to secure the championship," she stated.
And the journey toward that elusive three-peat begins in the V-League.
